L' idroterapia utilizza il naturale movimento dell'acqua (piscine, idromassaggi), i getti naturali e artificiali (docciature, cascate) e i vapori naturali (sauna, bagno turco, terme) come metodo di prevenzione e cura di numerose malattie e per il mantenimento di un generale benessere psico-fisico. Trova vasto impiego anche l'uso di acque a temperature diverse. Uno dei padri della moderna idroterapia è Sebastian Kneipp (vedi sopra).
